2004 MSI Conference Objectives

Three objectives were developed by the MSI Task Force for the 2004 Conference:

  • Provide information on capacity and best practices of MSIs, business and industry, and governmental agencies in entrepreneurship, education and research for contracting opportunities.
  • Attend forums, workshops and Matchmaking and Business EXPO whereby MSIs, governmental agencies, business and industry will have an opportunity to learn more about creating wealth and becoming more competitive in business practices and principles.
  • Provide an environment for MSIs, business and industry and government to form effective teaming that supports partnerships for enhancing contracting and grant opportunities.

Through the conference, partnerships were realized and an entrepreneurial culture was enhanced among administrators, faculty, students, MSIs, businesses, government and the community at large. Further, the conference exposed students to networking and career opportunities; professional experiences of participating agency, business, not-for-profit organization and academic institutional representatives; as well as recruitment, scholarship and internship information. Both students and faculty were encouraged to explore placement and fellowship opportunities.
